DHAKA, June 29, 2026 (BSS) - Information and Broadcasting Minister Zahir Uddin Swapon today expressed deep shock at the death of Ekushey Padak-winning painter and cultural personality Mustafa Monwar.
In a condolence message, he said Mustafa Monwar's death is an irreparable loss to the country's art, culture and creative arena.
The nation will ever remember the unique contribution he (Mustafa Monwar) made to painting, children's programmes and cultural development as well as the creative practice of the new generation during his long career, Swapon said.
"His diverse creative works and ideals will forever inspire the art-loving people of the country and the future generations," the information minister said.
He prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul of Mustafa Monwar and conveyed symphony to the bereaved family members.
Mustafa Monwar passed away this morning at aged 90 while undergoing treatment at a private hospital in the capital.
