Ex-MP Ashika Sultana on fresh remand in Anti-Terrorism case

DHAKA, June 29, 2026 (BSS) – A court here today placed Ashika Sultana, former lawmaker from Nilphamari-3 constituency, on a three-day fresh remand in a case lodged under the Anti-Terrorism Act.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Sarah Farzana Haque passed the order as police produced Ashika before the court after the completion of her three-day remand and pleaded to place her again on a five-day fresh remand.

Earlier, on June 26, the court of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Manjurul Islam placed Ashika Sultana on a three-day remand in the case.

According to the case documents, leaders and activists of Bangladesh Awami League and its front organizations on June 19, 2026, gathered in front of BATA Showroom in Mirpur-1 Apex Building and brought out a rally, chanting different anti-government slogans.

Police later filed the case with the Mirpur Model Police Station.
