CCGP approves procurement of 2 LNG cargoes for late July

DHAKA, July 1, 2026 (BSS) – The Cabinet Committee on Government Purchase (CCGP) today approved the procurement of two Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) cargoes from the international spot market to help ensure uninterrupted gas supply across the country.

The approvals came at the 29th meeting of the CCGP for 2026 held at the Cabinet Division in the capital with Finance Minister Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury in the chair.

According to the approval, the cargoes scheduled for delivery in the latter half of July 2026 to meet the country's growing energy demand.

Under the approved proposals, BP Singapore Pte Ltd will supply one LNG cargo, while TotalEnergies Gas & Power Ltd, UK will provide the second cargo.

The proposals were placed by the Energy and Mineral Resources Division following recommendations from Petrobangla to address the country's immediate fuel requirements and maintain a stable supply of natural gas for power generation, industries and household consumers.

The LNG imports will be procured from the international spot market in line with the government's approved procurement framework.

The key agreement price is Taka 1,437.55 crore.
