Health officials report 190 fresh cases of dengue inflection, 2 deaths overnight

DHAKA, July 09, 2026 (BSS) - Health officials today said they recorded 190 fresh cases of dengue onslaughts killing at least two persons in the past 24 hours with most patients reporting in health facilities in southwestern Barishal region.

"During the period, (of the 190) 48 patients were hospitalised in Barishal division" which appeared to have been the worst victim of the mosquito carried diseases, a Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) statement said.

It said among the rests, 34 were hospitalised in Chattogram division, 40 in Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) and 31 in Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) areas, 22 in Khulna division, six in Mymensingh division, seven in Rajshahi division and two in Sylhet Division.

Since the start of the dengue onslaughts Bangladesh this year witnessed so far 24 deaths while the disease inflicted 7,747.

The dengue last year claimed 413 lives and inflicted 1,02,861 people in the country.

Besides, the dengue claimed 575 lives and inflicted 1,01,214 people in 2024.
