DHAKA, July 9, 2026 (BSS) - The Bangladesh Consulate General in Jeddah has urged Bangladeshi service seekers to protect the property and environment of venues used for consular services, maintain cleanliness and comply with local laws, regulations and discipline during consular tour programmes across western Saudi Arabia.

In a cautionary notice, the Consulate said some service seekers had engaged in careless and irresponsible behaviour at venues rented for delivering consular services, resulting in damage to facilities and creating inconvenience for the mission.

According to the notice, incidents included damage to doors, windows, chairs, tables and other furniture, climbing over boundary walls to enter the premises, breaking lamp posts, damaging walls and other structures, and failing to dispose of used water bottles and other waste in designated places.

The Consulate said such incidents have compelled it to compensate venue owners for the damage caused, while also creating negative reactions among local residents.

It warned that these incidents not only tarnish Bangladesh's image abroad but also impose financial burdens on the government.

The mission expressed concern that repeated occurrences have made many venue owners reluctant to rent out their premises for future consular service programmes.

It cautioned that if the situation continues, the Consulate's future consular tour activities could be disrupted, causing difficulties for Bangladeshi expatriates in Saudi Arabia in accessing essential consular services.

The Consulate, therefore, urged all service seekers to act responsibly by protecting the property and environment of the venues, maintaining cleanliness, and complying with local laws, regulations and discipline.

It said the awareness and responsible conduct of members of the Bangladeshi community would help ensure the uninterrupted continuation of consular tour programmes while preserving the image and dignity of Bangladesh abroad.
