BGB chief reviews border management, flood relief activities in Cox's Bazar

DHAKA, July 18, 2026 (BSS) – Director General (DG) of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) Major General Mohammad Ashrafuzzaman Siddiqui visited Cox's Bazar and adjacent border areas on July 17-18 to review border management, operational preparedness and humanitarian assistance activities.

During the visit, he was briefed on the overall security situation along the Bangladesh-Myanmar border and reviewed ongoing border security operations, according to a press release of the Paramilitary Force issued today.

The BGB chief exchanged views with officers and troops deployed in the region and praised their professionalism, dedication and vigilance in carrying out duties in remote and challenging border areas.

He also provided necessary directives to further enhance operational efficiency, maintain discipline and strengthen border security.

As part of the government's humanitarian assistance programme for flood-affected people in Cox's Bazar, the BGB personnel distributed relief materials among flood victims in Chakaria Municipality, Lakshyarchar Union and Kakara Union.

A medical camp was also arranged to provide healthcare services to the affected people, the release said.

Speaking on the occasion, the BGB DG reaffirmed his commitment to safeguarding the country's borders and serving the people.

He directed all BGB personnel to remain alert and perform their duties with professionalism and responsibility to effectively address any emerging challenges.

The BGB chief also urged members of the force to discharge their responsibilities with sincerity and dedication to uphold the confidence and trust of the people.
