RAJSHAHI, July 18, 2026 (BSS)- Land Minister Mizanur Rahman Minu, MP, said
Nazrul is not just our pride, he is a unique architect of the Muslim
Renaissance.

Nazrul's composition 'Chol Chol Chol', the marching song, is performed in
about 11 countries around the world including Bangladesh, among which India,
Pakistan, Nepal, Bhutan, Afghanistan and Iran are notable.

He said these things today while speaking as the chief guest after
inaugurating the newly-constructed 'Nazrul Village' by unveiling its plaque.

The village was built on the initiative of the Rajshahi District
Administration opposite the Rajshahi Central Botanical Garden and Zoo, on the
occasion of the 'Nazrul Year' declared in memory of National Poet Kazi Nazrul
Islam.

The Land Minister said with the establishment of 'Nazrul Village' in
Rajshahi, a new horizon will be opened for Nazrul researchers and local
cultural practices will be further accelerated.

He assured that after the completion of the work of Nazrul Village, Prime
Minister Tarique Rahman will be brought to Rajshahi to inaugurate it.
At this time, he prayed for the salvation of the departed soul of the
National Poet.

The inaugural ceremony was presided over by Deputy Commissioner Kazi Shahidul
Islam and was attended by senior officials, local political figures, civil
society members and distinguished personalities from the cultural arena.

Later, the Minister planted a Krishnachura sapling on the premises of 'Nazrul
Village'.

It was informed at the event that initially a fund of Taka 25 lakh has been
collected from various sources for the project.

Of this, Taka 10 to 12 lakh has been allocated for the construction of
'Nazrul Mancha' [Nazrul Stage].

No multi-storey building is being constructed at the proposed site. It will
be completely open to the public.

Any party or group can come here at any time to practice Nazrul's plays, folk
theatre and various branches of literature.
A 'Nazrul Calendar' has already been announced to bring Nazrul practice into
a framework.

According to this calendar, various programmes will be organised here
regularly throughout the year.

However, for now, initiatives have been taken to complete the work of the
'Nazrul Mancha' quickly so that the programmes scheduled for next month can
be organised on these premises.

Basically, a new initiative has been taken with the aim of widely spreading
the literature, poetry and songs of National Poet Kazi Nazrul Islam among the
new generation.

'Nazrul Mancha' and 'Nazrul Corner' are being built as the focal point of
this initiative.
