Health officials report 242 fresh cases of dengue inflection, one death overnight

DHAKA, July 18, 2026 (BSS) - Health officials today said they recorded 242 fresh cases of dengue onslaughts killing at least one person in the past 24 hours.

“During the period, (of the 242) 10 patients were hospitalised in Barishal division, 38 in Chattogram division, 21 in Dhaka division, 35 in Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) and 77 in Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) areas, 40 in Khulna division and 21 in Mymensingh division, a Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) statement said.

Since the start of the dengue onslaughts Bangladesh this year witnessed so far 33 deaths while the disease inflicted 10,012.

The dengue last year claimed 413 lives and inflicted 1,02,861 people in the country.

Besides, the dengue claimed 575 lives and inflicted 1,01,214 people in 2024.
