
DHAKA, July 19, 2026 (BSS) – The Bangladesh Consulate General in Istanbul has observed “July Martyrs’ Day 2026” with due solemnity, paying profound tribute to those who sacrificed their lives during the July Mass Uprising.
Bangladeshi professionals from various fields residing in Istanbul, members of the expatriate community, officials and employees of the Consulate General and their family members attended the programme on Saturday, according to a message received here today.
The observance began with a recitation from the Holy Quran, followed by the reading of messages issued by the President and the Prime Minister marking the day.
A discussion was later held highlighting the importance and significance of July Martyrs’ Day.
Addressing the discussion, the Consul General prayed for the eternal peace of the martyrs who lost their lives during the July Mass Uprising.
He called upon all Bangladeshis to uphold the spirit of the uprising, transform grief into strength and contribute to the collective journey towards building a developed and prosperous Bangladesh.
During an open discussion, members of the Bangladeshi community highlighted the significance of the day and recalled with profound respect the sacrifices and contributions of the martyrs of the July Mass Uprising.
The speakers also called for implementation of the July Charter and pledged to present the heroic legacy and spirit of the July Mass Uprising to the international community.
The programme concluded with a special prayer and munajat seeking eternal peace for the departed souls of the martyrs.
