DHAKA, Sept 8, 2026 (BSS) - The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has urged the public to provide information on missing government firearms as authorities launch a nationwide special joint operation to recover the weapons, with RAB designated as the lead coordinating agency.

RAB, in a statement today, said informants can provide information confidentially and securely and receive rewards. 

Information can be shared through RAB hotlines 01777711441, 01777711442, 01777711443, 01777711444 and 0255669999, which are also available via imo, WhatsApp, Telegram and Viber.

Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed earlier on August 29 announced financial rewards for information leading to the recovery of looted and illegal firearms.

Those providing information that helps recover heavy weapons will receive up to Tk 200,000, while information leading to the recovery of pistols, revolvers or shotguns will fetch up to Tk 50,000.
 
The minister said the government has intensified drives to recover looted and illegal weapons by forming a special unit with coordination among various intelligence agencies.

He said informants could receive Tk 10,000, Tk 15,000 or Tk 20,000, depending on the type of recovered items, including sound grenades, looted tear-gas shells and other stolen weapons.

"The identity of informants will be kept strictly confidential," the minister assured.
