RANGAMATI, July 19, 2025 (BSS)- Chittagong Hill Tracts (CHT) Affairs Adviser Supradip Chakma has said the Interim Government sincerely believes that a sustainable peace and development in the CHT is possible if all parties work together to implement the peace accord.
The adviser said this at the 10th meeting of the CHT Peace Accord Implementation and Monitoring Committee at Rangamati Development Board Rest House here today, a press release of the CHT ministry said.
The adviser termed this meeting as an important step towards peace, security and development of the people of CHT areas.
He said the committee will identify the challenges of implementing the accord and submit recommendation to the ministries and related departments. If necessary, sub-committees will be formed to take the activities forward in days to come, he added.
The meeting discussed the progress of the implementing the CHT accord, reviewed various clauses of the accord and future plans to go ahead.
The meeting was told that the incumbent interim government is giving top priority to the implementation of the treaty and resumed the process through the reconstituting the CHT Peace Accord Implementation and Monitoring Committee.
Foreign Affairs Adviser Md Touhid Hossain, Parbatya Chittagong Jana Sanghati Samiti President Jyotirindra Bodhipriyo Larma, Chairman of the Task Force Sudatta Chakma and Parbatya Chittagong Regional Council Member Gautam Kumar Chakma, among others, spoke on the occasion.
Speakers observed that some basic issues are still to be implemented for the full establishment of peace in the hilly region, the press release said.
They underscored the need to prioritize the implementation of the main aspects of the agreement and the resolution of the land issue and determine the action plan for the future.
The meeting also decided that the committee would immediately start its activities and ensure the implementation of the agreement through regular monitoring and review.
