DHAKA, Aug 6, 2025 (BSS) - Home Adviser Lieutenant General (Retd.) Md Jahangir Alam Chowdhury today said they were trying their best to deliver a good election to the nation.

"We will try our best to hold a good election. There will be no problem if we get your (media) cooperation in this connection... If the Almighty Allah wills, the next election will be free, fair, and impartial," he said after coming out of a meeting at the Home Ministry here on formulating a collective and integrated work plan for the next election.

As part of the measures to ensure that the next election is held in a peaceful, fair, and credible manner, the Home Ministry took several decisions at today's meeting. These include deploying eight lakh personnel from all law enforcement agencies, equipping each of the 47,000 polling centres with a body camera, and providing training to all officials assigned to election duties, he said.

The Home Adviser said they will transfer SPs and OCs through a lottery before media representatives prior to the announcement of the election schedule, adding that the transfer of OCs will be carried out division-wise.

After the announcement of the election schedule, the law enforcement agencies will come under the jurisdiction of the Election Commission (EC), he said.

"If the Commission wants, they can make changes in this reagard," he said.

The Home Adviser said as many as eight lakh members from all law enforcement agencies, including police, Ansar, and the army, will be deployed across the country to hold the upcoming election in a peaceful and fair manner.

To ensure transparency, Jahangir said that one body camera will be provided at each of the 47,000 polling centres across the country, and the senior-most police officer at each centre will receive the camera.

He said all members of the law enforcement agencies deployed for election duties will receive election-related training to help ensure that the upcoming election is conducted fairly.

Each law enforcement agency will arrange training for its own personnel, he added.

Representatives from all the enforcement agencies were present at the meeting.
