DHAKA, July 15, 2026 (BSS) - The Bangladesh Madrasa Education Board has
instructed all madrasas across the country to display banners promoting the
government's "Notun Kuri Sports 2026-2027" programme to ensure wider
publicity and encourage student participation.

The directive was issued in a notification circulated by the board today.

According to the notification, the Ministry of Youth and Sports has launched
the "Notun Kuri Sports" programme in line with the government's commitment to
identifying and developing sports talent nationwide.

The programme aims to identify promising athletes aged 12 to 14 from the
grassroots level and nurture them into skilled sports persons capable of
competing at national and international levels.

The initiative has been undertaken following directives from the Technical
and Madrasa Education Division under the Ministry of Education.

The Prime Minister formally inaugurated the nationwide programme at Sylhet
District Stadium on May 2 this year.

As part of the initiative, upazila-level competitions in 10 sporting
disciplines are scheduled to begin in September 2026.

Registration for participation in the competitions will remain open until
August 31, the notification said.

The board directed principals, superintendents, heads of institutions and
managing committees of all madrasa educational institutions under its
jurisdiction to display the banners at major locations on their campuses to
raise awareness about the programme and boost participation of students.
