Jamaat Ameer condoles death of ex-CEC Justice Abdur Rouf

DHAKA, Feb 09, 2025 (BSS) - Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr Shafiqur Rahman today expressed profound shock and sorrow at the death of former chief election commissioner (CEC) Justice Mohammad Abdur Rouf.

In a message of condolence, he said Justice Abdur Rouf, a former Appellate Division judge, served as the country's fifth CEC from December 25, 1990, to April 18, 1995.

Shafiqur Rahman said Justice Rouf will always remain a symbol in Bangladesh's democratic journey. Through his work, he will live in the hearts of the people forever, he added.

He prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul and conveyed deep sympathy to the bereaved family.
