Two traders held with 25 sacks of banned polythene

DHAKA, Feb 11, 2025 (BSS) - Police have arrested two traders along with 25
sacks of contraband polythene in the capital's Kotwali area.

The arrested were Md Sumon, 36, and Sabuz Fakir, 35, said a media release of
Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) today.

Acting on a tip-off, Kotwali Police Station came to know that two traders
were staying on Waizghat to Babubazar-bound road with the contraband
polythene loaded on a motorized rickshaw van.

A team of the police station conducted a raid on Monday at 05:10pm and
arrested the duo with the polythene, which has an estimated market value of
Taka 137,500.

However, one of their associate, named as Md Jewel, was managed to escape the
scene.

A case was filed with Kotwali Police Station under Bangladesh Environment
Conservation Act (BECA).
