Sheikh Helal's PA on 4-day remand in attempt to murder case

DHAKA, Feb 12, 2025 (BSS) –A court here today placed former lawmaker Sheikh Helal Uddin's personal assistant (PA) Hossain Muhammad Murad (alias) Sohel Murad on a four-day remand in a case filed for attempting to murder Titumir College Chhatra Dal vice-president Shamim Reza.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Shahin Reza granted the order as police produced the accused before the court and appealed to place him on a seven-day remand.

Murad was detained at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on Tuesday night while he was trying to flee the country.

According to the case, Titumir College Chhatra Dal vice-president Shamim Reza participated in the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement in the capital's Uttara House building area on August 5.

He was injured in the bullet, fired by the accused at 11:30 am that day and was admitted to the hospital.

After receiving treatment, Reza filed a case in this connection.
