Inu, Menon, Anisul, 2 others remanded in fresh uprising killing cases

DHAKA, March 19, 2025 (BSS) - A court here today placed former ministers Anisul Huq, Rashed Khan Menon, Hasanul Haque Inu, Dr Dipu Moni and former lawmaker Sadek Khan on different terms of remand in cases lodged over murders committed during the July-August mass uprising.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Shahin Reza passed the orders, placing Inu, Menon and Dipu Moni on a four-day remand each in a case lodged with Jatrabari Police Station over the murder of Obaidul Islam.

The court also placed former law minister Anisul Huq on a three-day remand in a case lodged over the murder of Md Sujon in city's Bosila area. Former lawmaker Sadek Khan was placed on a three-day remand in a case filed over the murder of one Mirajul Islam Arnav.

Obaidul Islam was killed on August 4 in front of Kajla Petrol Pump area in Jatrabari as Awami League cadres opened fire on the agitating people, while Md Sujon was killed in front of Mohammadpur Bosila Awami League party office on July 20. Mirajul Islam Arnav was gunned down on July 19 in Bosila area.
