Biman pilot Captain Saifuzzaman dies in Canada accident

DHAKA, June 9, 2025 (BSS) – Captain Md Saifuzzaman, a senior pilot of Biman Bangladesh Airlines assigned to its Boeing 787 fleet, died in a tragic accident in Canada on Sunday, the national flag carrier said in a statement today. 

The accident occurred at 3:06 PM local time in Canada, said the statement. 

Biman expressed deep sorrow over the untimely demise of Captain Saifuzzaman, saying his passing has caused an irreparable loss to the organisation.

“His professional competence, sense of responsibility, and dedication were a source of pride for Biman,” the airline said, adding that his sudden death leaves behind a void that cannot be easily filled.

In line with the wishes of his family, Biman’s Toronto office is maintaining close coordination with the Bangladesh High Commission in Canada to facilitate the repatriation of the deceased’s body to Bangladesh.

Biman’s all employees prayed for the eternal peace of the departed soul and conveyed heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family.
