
DHAKA, Dec 8, 2025 (BSS) - The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has filed a total of 1,837 cases for traffic law violations during a daylong operation conducted across the capital on Sunday.
The crackdown, led by various divisions of the DMP's Traffic Department, targeted reckless driving, illegal parking, unfit vehicles, and other traffic-related offenses, said a press release.
According to DMP traffic sources, the Traffic-Motijheel Division lodged 256 cases, including offenses involving 15 buses, 2 trucks, 24 covered vans, 44 CNG-run auto-rickshaws, and 129 motorcycles.
The Traffic- Wari Division followed closely with 281 cases, involving 31 buses, 31 trucks, 16 covered vans, 36 CNGs, and 121 motorcycles.
In the Traffic- Tejgaon Division, 186 cases were recorded, while the Traffic- Mirpur Division filed 197 cases, both covering a range of commercial and personal vehicles.
The highest number of cases was reported in the Traffic- Gulshan Division, which filed 370 cases, including 20 buses, 2 trucks, 17 covered vans, 33 CNGs, and 167 motorcycles.
The Traffic- Uttara Division registered 301 cases, while the Traffic-Ramna Division filed 109 cases.
In the Traffic-Lalbagh Division, authorities recorded 137 cases.
In addition to filing cases, traffic police dumped 376 vehicles and wrecked 153 that were deemed hazardous or non-compliant with regulations.
The DMP has stated that such operations will continue regularly to improve road safety and maintain discipline on Dhaka's busy streets.
