DHAKA, Dec 8, 2025 (BSS) - BNP Chairperson and former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia's health condition remains stable, according to the party.
"Begum Khaleda Zia's physical condition is stable. A meeting of the medical board is scheduled for tonight. Only after that will we know whether there has been any change in her condition," BNP media cell member Shayrul Kabir Khan, citing Khaleda Zia's personal physician and BNP Standing Committee Member Dr. AZM Zahid Hossain, told BSS.
Khaleda Zia was admitted to Evercare Hospital in Dhaka on November 23 with breathing difficulties caused by a lung infection, which later developed into pneumonia. She also suffers from several chronic health issues including complications involving her kidneys, liver, arthritis and diabetes.
Since her admission, she has been under intensive observation by a combined team of local and foreign medical specialists.
Her son Acting BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman has been in regular contact with both domestic and international doctors regarding her condition. His wife Dr. Zubaida Rahman has remained by Khaleda Zia's side at the hospital and visited her again this afternoon.
BNP sources say preparations have been made to transfer her abroad for advanced treatment if necessary. However, the party has reiterated that any decision on sending Begum Khaleda Zia abroad will depend entirely on the medical board's assessment of her current health situation.
