RANGPUR, May 3, 2025 (BSS) - National Citizens' Party (NCP) member-secretary
Akhtar Hossain has said that Awami League (AL) and Sheikh Hasina have
presented Bangladesh as a puppet state to India for the last 16 years.

"India's hegemonic aggression has worked on the issue of human and civil
dignity of the people of Bangladesh. They (India) do not consider the people
of Bangladesh as human beings," he said while talking to journalists after
inaugurating a free healthcare camp.

The Youth Society, a local volunteer organisation, organised the health camp
at the Deuti Puran Maidan adjacent to Deuti Bazar in Pirgachha upazila of the
district on Saturday.

Akhtar said the people of Bangladesh dream of living with dignity, but this
message was not clear to India. The people of the country have now united on
the issue of their lost dignity and rights.

He said that in the changed context, when the people of this country are
engaged in the struggle to restore their lost dignity, India has started
tension on the border.

"I applaud the role that we have seen from Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) and
the public when injustice is committed on any border. This is a unique
example of the lessons of the July 2024 mass uprising and protest against
injustice," he said.

Stating that the NCP is giving special importance to maintaining dignified
relations with neighboring countries, Akhtar said, "We would like the people
of India and Bangladesh not to get involved in border problems."

The Indian government should treat the citizens of Bangladesh well. They
should come out of their negative and low view of the people of Bangladesh.

The NCP leader said that the proposals of the reform commissions have been
submitted to the interim government. The interim government should
immediately implement these reform proposals.

"We expect the next elected government to continue these proposed reforms,"
he said.

Akhtar said that instead of slowing down and complicating the proceedings of
criminal cases, measures should be taken to ensure punishment of those who
are truly guilty.

"We have proposed amending the law and restructuring the court, urging for
ease of justice. If the guilty are punished and an example is set, potential
criminals will not dare to commit crimes. Then the incidence of crimes in the
society will decrease," he said.

The NCP member-secretary hoped that the interim government will build a
hospital with the help of China at a proper place considering the
geographical and environmental conditions.

"At the same time, arrangements must be made to ensure that the marginalized
people of the villages get services from this hospital," he said.

Commenting on the river Teesta, Akhtar said, the interim government has
already taken various initiatives including building a dam. If these are
implemented, the picture of the coastal region will change."

At the same time, he urged the interim government to pay attention to making
the economic zones of this region visible.

At that time, NCP organizers Alamgir Nayan, Toufiq Ahmed and district and
upazila level leaders and activists were present.

Later, Akhtar Hossain exchanged greetings on the occasion of Baishakh with
the backward community of Somnarayan village in Pirgachha upazila of the
district.
