DHAKA, May 13, 2025 (BSS) - BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi Ahmed today said a mindset has been created in a planned way in Bangladesh that if someone says something against India, he is probably backward, he is probably not modern and he will not remain progressive.

He was addressing a roundtable organized on the occasion of a mass procession to commemorate the Maulana Bhashani Farakka Long March under the initiative of the International Farakka Committee at Jatiya Press Club here.

Noting that BNP has always been vocal against any aggression in the national interest, Rizvi said  Bhashani, Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman, BNP chief Begum Khaleda Zia and acting chairman Tarique Rahman were vocal against any aggression in the national interest.

“Sheikh Mujib was informed about the commissioning of the Farakka Barrage that it would be commissioned on an experimental basis. Then Sheikh Mujib gave permission. The disaster was done that day. After that, they (India) did not feel the need to talk to Bangladesh,” he said.

BNP Standing Committee member Major (retd) Hafiz Uddin Ahmed also spoke.
