64 leaders of BNP-Jamaat acquitted after 13 years in Chapainawabganj

CHAPAINAWABGANJ, May 13, 2025 (BSS) - The Chief Judicial Magistrate Court here today acquitted all 64 leaders and activists of BNP and Jamaat after 13 years from a case of Shibganj Thana of the district.

Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate of the court Abu Taleb delivered the judgment acquitting all the accused of the case as the allegations against them were not proved during the trial.

Advocate Nure Alam Siddiqui Asad, lawyer of the accused, confirmed the news to the media.

According to the court sources, a case was filed against the accused persons on December 4, 2012 for damaging a shop and looting of Taka 1,25,000 at Kansat Bazar under Shibganj upazila of the district. 

The case was filed against a total of 64 leaders and activists of BNP and Jamaat including the then vice chairman of Shibganj upazila parishad and joint general secretary of district Juba Dal Shahidul Haque Haidary alias Shahid Miah and Kansat union Jamaat leader Sarwar Abedin.
