NARAYANGANJ, May 13, 2025 (BSS) - Three people were arrested today in a case filed by the Narayanganj police on charges of attacking law enforcers and obstructing the arrest of Selina Hayat Ivy, former city mayor and senior vice-president of the district Awami League (AL).

The case was filed with the Narayanganj Sadar Police Station last night by Narayanganj Sadar Model Police Station Sub-Inspector Md Ripon Mridha.

Narayanganj Additional Superintendent of Police (Crime and Operations) Tareque Al Mehdi confirmed the matter today.

The case names 52 individuals along with 200 unidentified others as accused. Following the filing of the case, police conducted a raid and arrested three individuals.

The arrestees are Hanif, 40, son of Kashem, resident of Shahidnagar area under Narayanganj Sadar upazila; Hasibur Rahman Jisan, 28, son of Hanif and Shawkat Mikhun, 43, son of Abdul Hai.

Earlier, police proceeded to the Chunka Kutir residence of former Mayor Ivy in Deobhog to execute an arrest warrant related to the Siddhirganj garment worker Minarul Islam murder case. However, their efforts were met with obstruction. Allegedly, Awami League activists present at the scene chanted slogans against the police, creating a tense environment. Subsequently, while transporting Ivy following her arrest, police personnel were reportedly attacked again near Ukilpara Mor in the city, resulting in injuries to multiple officers.

Efforts are underway to apprehend the remaining accused, said ASP Tareque Al Mehdi.
