DHAKA, May 31, 2025 (BSS) - BNP Standing Committee Member Salahuddin Ahmed today said the national election must be held within December.

“Why would you hold elections beyond December? There is no logic for it. Whenever we ask for polls the government says polls will be held between December and June. Elections should be held before December, this is the demand of the people of Bangladesh and us,” he said.

Salahuddin was addressing a discussion titled “Ziaur Rahman's Contribution to the Agricultural Revolution of Bangladesh” organized by Krishak Dal marking the 44th martyrdom anniversary of BNP founder Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman at the Institution of Diploma Engineers, Bangladesh here.

He requested the government to reveal if the interim government has any logic for holding elections after December.

Krishak Dal General Secretary Shahidul Islam chaired the event, which was moderated by its Joint Secretary Yusuf Ali Molla and Publicity Secretary Shamsur Rahman.
