Sports should be free from politics: Fakhrul

THAKURGAON, June 20, 2025 (BSS) - BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam 
Alamgir today said sports should be free from politics.

He said this at the final match and closing ceremony of Mirza Ruhul Amin 
Memorial Tournament at Shaheed Mohammad Ali Stadium here.

Fakhrul, a sports enthusiast, remembered the late sportsmen who contributed 
to sports in Thakurgaon and shared his personal memories and experiences with 
them. 

The BNP secretary general said the student-led mass uprising created a new opportunity for the nation to establish democracy. 

“We have to remain united. In the last 15 years, all the institutions of the country were destroyed. I believe now is the time to rebuild the destroyed institutions and to rebuild this country,” he said.

Former principal of Thakurgaon Government College Prof Ayub Ali and general secretary of district BNP Mirza Faisal Amin, president of Thakurgaon Pourashabha BNP Shariful Islam Sharif and tournament convener Noor-e-Shahadat Swajan, among others, were present.
