DHAKA, July 8, 2025 (BSS) – A court here today ordered to seize the 10-storied commercial building on 15 Kathas of land in Savar, on the outskirts of the capital, belonging to former Chairman of Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC) Shibli Rubayat Ul Islam.

Senior Special Judge of Dhaka Metropolitan Md Zakir Hossain Galib passed the order upon a petition of the Anti Corruption Commission (ACC), said Tanzil Ahmed, Assistant Director (PR) of the ACC.

In the petition, it was alleged that Shibli Rubayat, also a Professor at Dhaka University’s Banking and Insurance Department, brought 3.61 lakh US dollars into Bangladesh after showing fake documents of exporting goods aimed at concealing illegal income of his or others.

Later, he embezzled over 2.26 lakh US dollars after showing a fake agreement of renting out a house and thus he committed the offence of money laundering.

So, a case against him is now under investigation and it is required to confiscate his permanent assets, the ACC petition added.
