DHAKA, July 11, 2025 (BSS) - BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi has said his party is fighting for establishing humanity, equality and justice in the society.

“We are fighting for a greater ideology. We are fighting for humanity, equality, and justice. We are fighting for the rule of law for sustainable and genuine democracy is required,” he said.

Rizvi said this while speaking at a doa mahfil and distribution of prayer mats among poor people in front of the BNP's central office in Naya Paltan here today. Zia Parishad organized the prayer programme for recovery of Abdul Kuddus, adviser of BNP chairperson, from illness.

BNP is fighting for a society where people would find their ownership, Rizvi said adding BNP never spoke against reforms.

“In fact, we've always spoke in favor of reforms. Many of the reforms you're mentioning are reflected in the BNP's 31-point demand,” he said.

Rizvi said, BNP has accepted many aspects of the July Charter. But why those matters should be incorporated into our core principles? he asked saying, “there will be many reforms in the country throughout the ages."

Referring to the dire state of the garment industry, he said, "The Awami League's cohorts have embezzled thousands of crores of taka from banks and laundered those abroad. If the government wishes, it can appoint administrators to troubled factories to prevent their closure,” he said.

Rizvi emphasized, "When a people's government is in power, it would be accountable to the people at every step. That accountability is now absent.”

The BNP leader said, the present interim government is enjoying full support of all political parties except the Awami League and a few of their allies.

“We will continue to support Dr. Muhammad Yunus for holding a free, fair and acceptable election as soon as possible,” he said.

BNP Joint Secretary General Advocate Abdus Salam Azad, Volunteer Affairs Secretary Mir Sarafat Ali Sapu, Zia Parishad Senior Vice President Dr. Shafiqul Islam, and Secretary General Dr. Emtaz Hossain, among others, were present at the event.
