DHAKA, July 11, 2025 (BSS)- BNP Standing Committee Member Gayeshwar Chandra Roy hoped that a free and fair election would be possible if the promises made by Chief Adviser  Dr. Muhammad Yunus regarding the upcoming national election are properly implemented.

"If all the promises of the Chief Adviser are properly fulfilled, no one will be able to obstruct a free and fair election," he observed, saying, “if anybody tries to obstruct the election, the people of this country will resist.”

The BNP leader made the remarks while addressing a cultural festival and unveiling CD of a song on July-August mass uprising.

Bangladesh Jatiotabadi Samajik Sangskritik Sangstha (JASAS), a cultural wing of BNP, organised the event in the Central Shaheed Minar.

Offering his prayers for the salvation of all martyrs of the July mass uprising, Gayeshwar Roy said, "It is our moral duty to show due respects to the martyrs whose blood freed us from autocracy.

“We must appropriately value their sacrifices. Let us not to try to enrich ourselves by selling their names,” he added.

The BNP leader said, there might have political differences among political parties, but those who liberated the country from fascism should not be dishonoured.

Urging everyone not to forget the mass uprising leaders he said the mass uprising was written with the tears of the children and parents of those who sacrificed their lives and became crippled to culminate our 17-years of struggle.

Among the leaders and activists of the different units of BNP,

Convener of JASAS actor Helal Khan was in the chair while Cultural secretary of BNP Ashraf Uddin Ahmed Uzzal and member secretary of JASAS Jakir Hossen Rokon were present, among others.
