BAGERHAT, July 12, 2025 (BSS) - National Citizen Party (NCP) Convener Nahid Islam today said the countrymen would not accept those who want to sustain the mafia system and corruption.

He said this while addressing a street rally on the Rail Road of the district.

Nahid said, "We need to change this system. New system will be needed to change the extortion, corruption and mafia system. This is our promise to the martyrs."

Noting that the NCP will not compromise with the old settlement, the NCP convener said, "We have said that the state should be reformed and the country will be restructured. If you still do not come in favor of reform, rather support old politics, and want to sustain the politics of extortion, mafia and corruption, then the countrymen will take to the streets against you again."

Nahid said, "If you have trust on us, we will unite to change this system. This is our commitment to the martyrs. The July Carter must be implemented."

He said, "We have not forgotten your sacrifice. The culprits should be brought under trial. We have to move forward through justice, reform and a new constitution."

The street march started on July 1 and will continue till July 25.

NCP Member Secretary Akhtar Hossain, Senior Joint Member Secretary Dr Tasnim Jara and Chief Co-ordinator Nasiruddin Patwari, among others, addressed the rally.
