2 more arrested in Sohag murder in Mitford

DHAKA, July 13, 2025(BSS) - The Detective Branch (DB) of police has arrested two more accused in the sensational Sohag murder case from Netrakona district, official sources said here today.

The arrested persons were identified as Sajib Bepari and Rajib Bepari.

With the arrest of Sajib and Rajib, police have so far arrested seven persons for the brutal killing of scrap trader Sohag near Mitford Hospital on July 9.

Joint Commissioner (Admin and Crime) of the DB Nasirul Islam told the journalists that they have arrested the duo from Netrakona district last night. 

Police earlier arrested five people for their alleged involvement in the killing. Of them, Titon Gazi, who was directly involved in the killing, was taken on a five-day police remand.

Scrap vender Lal Chand alias Sohag was mercilessly chopped and hit by stone at Rojoni Ghosh Lane near Mitford Hospital at about 6:00 pm on July 9 last following a business feud. He died on the spot due to inhuman torture on him.
