Three held with 11 gold bars in Jashore

JASHORE, July 13, 2025 (BSS) - Bangladesh Border Guard (BGB) in a drive arrested three people with 11 gold bars from Dhalgaon Bus Stand area in Bagharpara upazila of the district early this morning.

The arrested were - Ata Elahi Jiban, of Charcharkala village in Brahmanbaria district, Abul Kalam Azad, of Purba Bagbari village in Gazipur district and Ramprasad Mondal, of Ranirhat village in Bogura district.

BGB Jashore Battalion Commander Lt. Col. Saifullah Siddiqui said that three people were trying to smuggle the gold bars to India through Chaugacha in the early hours of Sunday. 

Being informed, a BGB team conducted a drive at Bagharpara Dhalgaon Bus Stand and arrested the trio with the gold bars weighing 1315 grams, he said.

The estimated value of the gold bars is over Taka 1.92 crore.

A case was filed with Bagharpara Police Station in this regard.
