Two more remanded in Sohag killing case

DHAKA, July 14, 2025 (BSS) - A court here today placed Sajib Bepari and Rajib Bepari on a five-day remand each in the barbaric killing of scrap metal trader Lal Chand Md Sohag in Dhaka's Mitford area.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Masum Miah passed the order as police produced the duo before the court and pleaded to place them on a seven-day remand each.

Separate courts on July 13 had placed Alamgir and Monir on a four-day remand each, Titon Gazi on a five-day remand on July 12, and Mahmudul Hasan Mahin on a five-day remand on July 10 respectively in the case.

Earlier on July 9 last, Lal Chand Mohammad Sohag, 39, was hacked, beaten and stoned to death near a gate of Sir Salimullah Medical College Mitford Hospital. 

On July 10, the day after the incident, Sohag's sister Monjuara Begum filed the case.
