Court imposes travel ban on ex-chairman of Southeast Bank Alamgir, 2 others

DHAKA, July 14, 2025 (BSS) – A court here today imposed a travel ban on former chairman of Southeast Bank PLC Alamgir Kabir, Customs Enforcement and Rebate Directorate official Tajul Islam and his wife Khodeja Khatun.

Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Md Zakir Hossain Galib passed the order, allowing two separate pleas of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).

The anti-graft body in its plea against Alamgir said the commission is probing allegations of embezzling TK several hundreds crores from the bank through corruption and nepotism and he may try to flee the country to evade justice.

It also pleaded to impose travel ban on Tajul Islam and said if he succeeds in escaping the country, the ongoing investigation against him may get affected .
