Sohag murder: One more arrested

DHAKA, July 15, 2025 (BSS) - The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has arrested one more accused in the sensational scrap trader Sohag murder case from the Bondar area in Narayanganj district.

With the arrest of Nannu, police have so far arrested eight persons for the brutal killing of scrap trader Lal Chand alias Sohag near Mitford Hospital located in the old part of the capital city of Dhaka on July 9.

Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Nure Alam of the RAB Media Wing told journalists today that they, acting on secret information, arrested Nannu from the Bondar area of Narayanganj district in the early hours of Monday.

Police earlier arrested seven people for their alleged involvement in the killing. Of them, Titon Gazi, who was directly involved in the killing, was placed on five-day remand.

Scrap vendor Lal Chand alias Sohag was mercilessly chopped and hit with a stone at Rojoni Ghosh Lane near Mitford Hospital at about 6 pm on July 9 over a business feud. He died on the spot.

Manjuara Begum, elder sister of Sohag, filed a case with Kotwali Thana on July 10, accusing 19 people.
