National polls to be held in mid-February, hopes Zahid

DHAKA, July 15, 2025 (BSS) - BNP standing committee member AZM Zahid Hossain today said they are hopeful that the national elections will be held by mid-February.

"The Chief Adviser and Chief Election Commissioner will definitely implement the election commitments they have made," he told journalists after visiting the conference venue of professionals to be held on July 21 marking the anniversary of the July uprising at the Institution of Engineers, Bangladesh (IEB) premises here.

Stating that a conspiracy is going on to delay the elections by deteriorating the law and order situation, Zahid said, "This is a clear conspiracy. If law and order can be disrupted, then a section will get advantage."

He said the people will decide who will get green card, red card or white card in the polls. 

BNP Cultural Secretary Ashraf Uddin Ahmed Ujjal, Dhaka University Professor Morshed Hasan Khan, Doctors Association's leader Rafiqul Alam Labu, journalist leaders Syed Abdal Ahmed and Amirul Islam Kagoji were present, among others, at the time.
