DHAKA, July 16, 2025 (BSS)- BNP Standing Committee Member Dr Abdul Moin Khan today said  the people of Bangladesh are pious, but not religiously blind.

"The people of Bangladesh are pious, but they are not religiously blind. You cannot impose one's opinion on others forcibly," he said.

Moin Khan was addressing a rally held at the National Press Club organized by Jatiyatabadi Muktijoddha Dal in protest against falsehoods and propaganda targeting BNP's acting chairman Tarique Rahman.

Dr Moin Khan said BNP does not believe in the politics of revenge. "If everybody truly loves the country and believes in the ideals of Bangladeshi nationalism, then an environment of hateful politics will not be created in the country."

Paying tributes to the martyrs of July mass uprising, he said the victory of August 5 must not be confined within the political dictum of any political party or group. The spirit of July uprising should be spread over all spheres of the nation.”

Moin Khan said a neutral election is the only way for country’s democratic transition. “There is no other way,” he said adding “If anyone says they do not believe in democracy, then their path is different."

The BNP leader said, "The victory achieved on August 5 was just the first phase of the struggle. The second phase of the movement is a neutral election under an interim government which has not happened yet.”

And, in the third phase an elected government would be formed by a political party to be elected by the people. Only then our victory will be completed, he said.
