CID freezes Tk 5.3cr in accounts of Khaleda Zia voice impersonator

DHAKA, July 31, 2025 (BSS) - The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has temporarily frozen over Tk 5.03 crore kept in 13 bank accounts belonging to a man - Motalles Hossain, who allegedly impersonated Khaleda Zia's voice and introduced himself as her liaison officer in order to extort the money.

CID's investigation and account reviews uncovered suspicious transactions of about Tk 26.84 crore in the accounts of Motalles Hossain and related institutions, CID's Special Superintendent of Police (Media) Jasim Uddin Khan said in a press release today.

CID is currently reviewing his immovable assets and financial activities to determine any links to the seized amount or other wealth.
