RANGPUR, July 31, 2025 (BSS) - BNP Standing Committee Member Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury has said that, along with political democratization, economic democratization must also be ensured.
"After Sheikh Hasina's escape, there has been a huge change in the people's mindset. Their aspirations have skyrocketed, expectations are very high. Those-be they individuals or political parties-who cannot hold onto these hopes and aspirations will have no prospect in the future Bangladesh," he said.
The BNP leader made the remarks while addressing a views-exchange meeting titled 'Political commitment to economic recovery and development of Rangpur division' held at the RpCCI auditorium in the city as the chief guest today.
Rangpur Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RpCCI) organised the divisional-level meeting for chamber leaders, industrialists, and businesspersons of all eight districts in Rangpur division, with its President Emdadul Hossain Emdad in the chair.
BNP Central Executive Committee's Organizing Secretary (Rangpur division) Principal Asadul Habib Dulu and Adviser to BNP Chairperson Ziauddin Haider addressed the event as special guests.
Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury said that political parties and politicians should work to fulfill the hopes and aspirations of the people, as their patience has now reached its lowest point and they may lose it at any time.
The people want to see a new Bangladesh in action, not just in words.
He said that to fulfill the people's aspirations, BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman has proposed creating one crore jobs and entrepreneurs in both government and private sectors within just 18 months of coming to power.
"So, before the next election, if BNP comes to power, we want to complete the action plan to implement the new Bangladesh from the very first day of our swearing-in, without delay," he said.
There is no time to wait, and the people no longer have the patience. Realizing this, BNP has started drafting future plans for every sector, especially the economic sector of Bangladesh.
He said, "We need to move towards a new type of economy. If we can provide training, we can employ everyone, including blacksmiths, potters, and weavers. We need to free our businesses from the cycle of bureaucratic red tape by making services available online."
He called on business leaders to improve their management standards and capabilities, and to become more professional, as business traditions must change to transform the new Bangladesh into a free market economy.
Principal Asadul Habib Dulu, in his speech, elaborated on how the Rangpur region has remained neglected and deprived in every field for decades.
"Only through the implementation of the Teesta Master Plan can the existing problems of the Rangpur region be resolved, and the fate of nearly two crore people of this region be changed-bringing an end to their centuries-old suffering," he said.
Rangpur District BNP Convener Md Saiful Islam, its Member-Secretary Anisur Rahman Laku, Rangpur Metropolitan BNP Convener Samsuzzaman Samu, BNP leader Emdadul Haque Bharasha, and leaders of all 10 chambers of Rangpur division also addressed the meeting.
