CUMILLA, Aug 22, 2025 (BSS) - Jamaat-e-Islami Naib-e-Ameer Dr. Syed Abdullah Mohammad Taher today said without complete reform, doubts will crop up among the people about the elections.

“If there is doubt among the people about the elections, then there will also be doubts about whether people will participate spontaneously in those elections. That doubt will take our country and politics back to that old pattern,” he said.

Taher was addressing a rally organized by Cumilla Metropolitan Jamaat at the Fun Town Convention Hall here.

He said if complete reforms are not done, the people's aspirations will not be fulfilled in the elections.

“We want a participatory, fair, free, impartial and a festive election. We want participatory elections for all legitimate parties without dictator,” he said

Taher said a level playing field must be ensured before the elections. “All political parties have reached a consensus on many issues regarding reforms. The elections must be held on the basis of these reforms. If elections are to be held on the basis of reforms, a legal basis must be created for reforms,” he said.

Cumilla Metropolitan Jamaat Ameer Kazi Din Mohammad chaired the rally while Metropolitan Jamaat Secretary M. Mahbubur Rahman, and Central Majlish-e-Shura member and Cumilla regional team member Professor Liaquat Ali Bhuiyan also spoke.

Cumilla Metropolitan Jamaat Nayeb-e-Ameer A. K. M. Emdadul Haque Mamun, Assistant Secretary, Kamaruzzaman Sohel and Councilor Mosharraf Hossain, Nasir Ahmed Mollah were present.
