Dhaka-bound passenger train derails near airport station

DHAKA, Aug 23, 2025 (BSS) - A Dhaka-bound passenger train named ‘Jamuna Express’ derailed near Airport Railway Station today. 

One coach of the train veered off the tracks at around 8:17 am, said railway officials.
 
Shahadat Hossain, station master at Airport Railway Station, said although train services were partially disrupted immediately after the derailment, it (train services) was normalized using the alternative lines. 

He said that since the work on the four-line railway from Joydevpur to Kamalapur was almost at its final stage, trains on the alternative lines were running as per schedule. 

The railway rescue team reached the spot soon after the incident and started rescue operation. The rescue operation officially started at around 11:30 am and the derailed coach was successfully removed at around 2 pm.
