NAOGAON, Aug 23, 2025 (BSS) - Rakta Daha Beel of Naogaon is not only the wealth of this region but also of the country.
But due to the lack of proper planning for the beel over the years, the traditional wetland has lost its natural beuty.
The beel has been almost dead due to the lack of digging of the beel as well as connecting canals, lack of planting of trees around the bill, and the lack of easy access to remove the waste.
It is known that currently there is no more fish in the bill as before.
However, hundreds of fishermen families used to earn a living by harvesting fish from this bill.
But due to political intrigues over the years, the Rakta Daha of thousands of hectares of land is not currently being of much use.
Therefore, Naogaon Barendra Multipurpose Development Authority has adopted development plans for this beel.
Barendra Multipurpose Development Authority Naogaon Executive Engineer Rezaul Islam has announced various plans including digging the beel, creating roads and easy access for boats for tourists to travel around the beel, planting environment-friendly and bird-friendly trees around the area, and digging a connecting canal to the beel.
He said that preparations have begun to restore the lost beauty of Raktadha Beel through excavation and to create an eco-park around the beel. The initial work of the plan has been completed, he said. Hopefully, many tourists will come here to enjoy the beauty of Raktadha Beel and the bird colony.
He said activities of Barendra Multipurpose Development Authority will be strengthened so that it can facilitate all farmers and service seekers of 11 upazilas of Naogaon.
Rezaul Islam said that efforts will continue to be made to get rid of the negative perception that has been created about the Barendra Multipurpose Development Authority in this region for years.
In addition, steps will be taken to renovate the canals belonging to Barendra in different parts of the district, he said.
