LAXMIPUR, Aug 24, 2025 (BSS) - BNP Joint-Secretary General Shahid Uddin Chowdhury Annie today said politics is not for making money rather it should be for sacrifice only.
“We do politics for the people and for respect. . . Those who want to do politics for personal gain have no place in BNP. Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman has instructed us to this end,” he said.
The BNP leader was addressing the bi-annual conference of Upazila unit BNP at Hazirhat Bazar in Kamalnagar Upazila here this afternoon.
Referring to Tarique Rahman’s returning home, he said there will be no major obstacles in this regard although there are some complications relating to cases against him.
“Tareque Rahman will come to the country between October-November and meet the leaders and workers. . .Before returning to Bangladesh, he is working on a plan to curb corruption and ensure people's security,” Annie said.
Noting that in the last 17 years under Sheikh Hasina's leadership, corrupt practices worth about Taka thousands of crores has occurred here with increasing the occurrences of disappearances, murders and tortures.
But BNP will not to do the same thing that Sheikh Hasina had done, Annie mentioned.
Noting that Bangladesh must be built under the efficient leadership of Tarique Rahman, he said, “It’s a big challenge for us, this is our commitment and passion. BNP is planning to run the country with people’s mandate through the upcoming general polls.”
He told the conference that the fascist Hasina’s regime should not be forgotten and no previous failed politics would continue as a new trend will be developed.
