DHAKA, Aug 24, 2025 (BSS) – BNP Standing Committee Member Dr Abdul Moin Khan today underscored the need for establishing a democratic system in Bangladesh for overall development of the country.

“The country needs a democratic system as no country can be developed without such system. Over the past 15 years, the fascist Awami League government had destroyed the democratic system in the country,” he said.

The BNP leader made the remarks while addressing a discussion marking the 15th founding anniversary of Bangladesh Jatiyatabadi Motor Chalok Dal at the Institution of Diploma Engineers in the city’s Kakrail area as the chief guest.

Jatiyatabadi Motor Chalok Dal President Selim Reza Babu presided over the discussion while its General Secretary Shipon Bokaul moderated it.

Noting that BNP always seeks accountability, Moin Khan said, "BNP always believes in democracy because the party works for the welfare of the people and the development of the country."

Highlighting BNP's contribution in flourishing democracy, he said after 1975 Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman established multi-party democracy in the country.

Later, he said, “Begum Khaleda Zia restored parliamentary democracy and for the past 15 years our Acting chairman Tarique Rahman has been patiently guiding us from London with programmes to oust the autocratic Awami League government from this country."

He lauded the qualities of Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman, Begum Khaleda Zia, and Tarique Rahman, saying, "Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman had three qualities- discipline, punctuality, and honesty while Khaleda Zia's important quality is her uncompromising nature and the current acting Chairman Tarique Rahman's quality is patience."
