IGC Foundation launched in Dhaka to empower youth through innovation, research

DHAKA, Aug 24, 2025 (BSS)- The Institute for Global Cooperation (IGC) Foundation, a youth-based think tank dedicated to research, innovation, and development, was launched officially at a ceremony held at a Gulshan hotel here today.

Foundation’s chairman Mahmudur Rahman inaugurated the event while Shama Obaid, Executive Director of the Foundation presented the keynote on "Transformation of Youth", said a press release. 

Eminent economist and writer Dr. Mahbub Ullah, Vice Chancellor of North South University and Chairman of Grameen Bank Professor Dr. Abdul Hannan Chowdhury, writer and journalist Ashraf Kaiser and Professor of Dhaka University Physics Department Dr. Md. Kamrul Hassan were the panel speakers.

Vice Chancellor of National University Professor Dr. A.S.M. Amanullah, Dr. Sukomal Barua of Dhaka University, Representatives of different diplomatic missions in Bangladesh   and Representatives of several other Local and International Organizations were present in the program.

Abdullah SM Asif, COO of the foundation,  presided the programme.

The speakers highlighted the importance of youth participation in shaping the future. As Bangladesh navigates global challenges and opportunities, the foundation aspires to equip the next generation with the tools and knowledge needed to create meaningful change, they said.

The foundation aims to harness the power of innovation, necessity-driven solutions, talent, and perseverance to empower youth and build pathways toward sustainable progress.
