Labour Welfare Foundation receives cheque amounting to 1.82 cr

DHAKA, Aug 24, 2025 (BSS) – Labour and Employment Secretary AHM Shafiquzzaman today received a cheque worth Taka 1,82,10,371 from Sembcorp North-West Power Company, a joint venture between Singapore-based Sembcorp Utilities and Bangladesh’s state-owned North-West Power Generation Company, in favour of the Bangladesh Labour Welfare Foundation.

The money deposited in the Labour Welfare Foundation will play an important role in the socio-economic development of the institutional and non-institutional labourers of the country.

The money will be used for emergency treatment, scholarships for students, and for the families of distressed and deceased labourers.

Bangladesh Labour Welfare Foundation Director General and Sembcorp North-West Power Company’s representative were present during the cheque handover programme.
