Madrasa students played key role during anti-fascist movement: Hefazat

DHAKA, Aug 24, 2025 (BSS) – Hefazat-e-Islam Bangladesh Secretary General Allama Sajidur Rahman, also co-chairman of Bangladesh Qawmi Madrasa Education Board, has said that madrasa students played a significant role in the anti-fascist movement.

“The madrasa students have to play an important role in building a country free from corruption, misrule and extortion. Now it is also our responsibility to organise and develop this country,” he said while addressing a discussion as the chief guest at the Jatiya Press Club last (Saturday) evening.

He said madrasa students were at the forefront of the anti-fascist movement in July 2024, risking their lives and embracing martyrdom.

Many ulema also made supreme sacrifices during the Shapla Chattar movement in 2013, he added.

He was speaking at the “Famous Students’ Reception, Award Distribution and Discussion” organised by the Jamalpur District Ulema Parishad here.

Mufti Kazi Mahmudul Hasan presided over the meeting.

Among others, former Secretary of the Public Administration Ministry AKM Ihsanul Haque Manju, Mufti Baki Billah, Maulana Ziaul Ashraf and Mufti Siddiqur Rahman also spoke on the occasion.
