DHAKA, Sept 5, 2025 (BSS) - A child, Safi Hossain (5), has died after drowning in a house water tank of an under construction building at Bibi Bagichar area under Jatrabari Police Station in the capital today.
The child was rescued around 5 pm and taken to the emergency department of Dhaka Medical College Hospital by relatives, where the doctor on duty declared the child dead around 6:30 pm today.
The child's mother, Jannatul Tasdia, said, "Our home is in Turog Baira village of Manda police station in Naogaon district. Currently, we live with our children in a rented house adjacent to Gate No. 1 of Bibi Bagichar in Jatrabari."
His father, Billal Hossain, a Saudi expatriate, is scheduled to arrive in Dhaka from Saudi Arabia on September 9.
" This afternoon, I could not find my child Safiq. Later, we, along with our neighbors, found him floating with his head above water in a water tank of an under-construction building next to our rented house," she said.
