AL central leader Kamruzzaman sent to jail

DHAKA, Sept 19, 2025 (BSS) - A court here today sent Awami League (AL) central committee member Kamruzzaman to jail in connection with a case filed under the Anti-Terrorism Act.

Kamruzzaman was arrested earlier over allegations of leading a protest procession at Banglamotor on September 12, in support of banned political activities by the Awami League and its banned affiliate, Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL). The case was filed with the Ramna Police Station.

According to the case statement, the procession which began around 2:50pm on September 12 was organized to chant slogans against the interim government, encourage banned organizational activities, and conspire to destabilize the state.

Following his arrest, police produced Kamruzzaman before the Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Court today and requested that he be kept in jail until the investigation is complete.

After hearing from the investigation officer, Metropolitan Magistrate Nazmin Akter ordered that Kamruzzaman be sent to jail.
