DB arrests 4 AL, BCL leaders, activists in city

DHAKA, Oct 14, 2025(BSS)- The Detective Branch (DB) of Dhaka Metropolitan 
Police (DMP) has arrested four leaders and activists of Awami League (AL) and 
its front organisations during the last 24 hours.

A team of the DB Lalbagh Division, acting on a tip-off, arrested the Cultural 
Secretary of Dhaka City South AL and a former Assistant Secretary of AL 
central sub-committee Abdul Matin Bhuiyan from Paltan area at about 1.30pm on 
Monday, a DMP release said here today.
 
Besides, another team of the DB Wari Division arrested former General 
Secretary of Komolnagar upazila unit BCL under Lakshmipur district Saddam 
Hossain Abeed from TT Para area under Mugda Thana in the capital at about 
2.15pm yesterday. 

In addition, the team also arrested another activist of the banned BCL 
Mohammad Ali Shahan from near Ibn Sina Hospital area under the city's 
Dhanmondi Thana at about 5pm on Monday. He was a close associate of former 
lawmaker of Moulvibazar-3 constituency Zillur Rahman.

Meanwhile, a team of the DB Motijheel Zone arrested Md Rusan, a former 
Assistant Secretary of banned Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) central 
committee from Nurjahan Road area under Mohammadpur Thana in the capital at 
about 9pm yesterday.

Lawful action is underway against the arrested persons, the release added.
